Glass Of Milk

One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry. He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it so slowly, and then asked, How much do I owe you?"
You don't owe me anything," she replied. "Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness."
He said ... "Then I thank you from my heart." As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit. Many year's later that same young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease. Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room. D ressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to her case. After a long struggle, the battle was won.
Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill. She read these words ...
"Paid in full with one glass of milk"
(Signed) Dr. Howard Kelly.
Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: "Thank You,
God, that Your love has spread broad through human hearts and hands."
There's a saying which goes something like this: Bread cast on the waters comes back to you. The good deed you do today may benefit you or someone you love at the least expected time. If you never see the deed again at least you will have made the world a better place - And, after all, isn't that what life is all about?

ICICI

Rajiv and Mona are flying to Australia for a two-week vacation to celebrate their 40th anniversary.Suddenly, over the public address system, the Captain announces, "Ladies and Gentlemen, I am afraid I have some very bad news. Our engines have ceased functioning and we will attempt an emergency landing. Luckily, I see an uncharted island below us and we should be able to land on the beach. However, the odds are that we may never be rescued and will have to live on the island for the rest of our lives!" Thanks to the skill of the flight crew, the plane lands safely on the island. An hour later Rajiv turns to his wife and asks, "Mona, did we pay our Rs 5lakh deposit cheque yet to ICICI Bank?" "No, sweetheart," she responds.
Rajiv, still shaken from the crash landing, then asks, "Mona, did we pay our ICICI Bank Master card yet?" "Oh no! I'm sorry. I forgot to send the cheque," she says. "One last thing, Mona. Did you remember to send cheques for the auto loan to them too this month?" he asks. "Oh, forgive me, Rajiv," begged Mona. "I didn't send that one, either." Rajiv grabs her and gives her the biggest hug in 40 years. Mona pulls away and asks him, "So, why did you hug me?"
Rajiv answers, "They'll find us!"

10 Secrets to Fulfilling Relationships

10 Secrets to Fulfilling Relationships

1. The first secret? The power of THOUGHT.
Love begins with our thoughts. We become what we think about. Loving
thoughts create loving experiences and loving relationships.
Affirmations can change our beliefs and thoughts about ourselves and
others. If we want to love someone, we need to consider their needs
and desires.

2. The second secret? The power of GIVING.
If you want to receive love, all you have to do is give it! The more
love you give, the more you will receive. To love is to give of
yourself, freely and unconditionally. Practice random acts of
kindness. Before committing to a relationship, ask not what the other
person will be able to give to you, but rather what will you be able
to give them. The secret formula of a happy, lifelong, loving
relationship is to always focus on what you can give instead of what
you can take.

3. The third secret? The power of RESPECT.
You cannot love anyone or anything unless you first respect them. The
first person you need to respect is yourself. To begin to gain
self-respect ask yourself, "What do I respect about myself?" To gain
respect for others, even those you may dislike, ask yourself "What do
I respect about them?"

4. The fourth secret? The power of FRIENDSHIP.
To find a true love, you must first find a true friend. Love does not
consist of gazing into each other's eyes, but rather looking outward
together in the same direction. To love someone completely you must
love them for who they are, not what they look like. Friendship is the
soil through which love's seeds grow. If you want to bring love into a
relationship, you must first bring friendship.

5. The fifth secret? The power of LETTING GO.
If you love something, let it free. If it comes back to you, it's
yours; if it doesn't, it never was. Even in a loving relationship,
people need their own space. If we want to learn to love, we must
first learn to forgive and let go of past hurts and grievances. Love
means letting go of our fears, prejudices, egos and conditions. "Today
I let go of all my fears, the past has no power over me - today is the
beginning of a new life."

6. The sixth secret? The power of COMMUNICATION.
When we learn to communicate openly and honestly, life changes. To
love someone is to communicate with them. Let the people you love know
that you love them and appreciate them. Never be afraid to say those
three magic
words: "I Love You." Never let an opportunity pass to praise someone.
Always leave someone you love with a loving word - it could be the
last time you see them! If you were about to die but could make
telephone calls to the people you loved, who would you call, what
would you say and ...why are you waiting?

7. The seventh secret? The power of COMMITMENT.
If you want to have love in abundance, you must be committed to it,
and that commitment will be reflected in your thoughts and actions.
Commitment is the true test of love. If you want to have loving
relationships, you must be committed to loving relationships. When you
are committed to someone or something, quitting is never an option.
Commitment distinguishes a fragile relationship from a strong one.

8. The eighth secret? The power of PASSION.
Passion ignites love and keeps it alive. Lasting passion does not come
through physical attraction alone; it comes from deep commitment,
enthusiasm, interest and excitement. Passion can be recreated by
recreating past experiences when you felt passionate. Spontaneity and
surprises produce passion. The essence of love and happiness are the
same; all we need to do is to live each day with passion.

9. The ninth secret? The power of TOUCH.
Touch is one of the most powerful expressions of love, breaking down
barriers and bonding relationships. Touch changes our physical and
emotional states and makes us more receptive to love.

10. The tenth secret? The power of TRUST.
Trust is essential in all loving relationships. Without it, one person
becomes suspicious, anxious and fearful and the other person feels
trapped and emotionally suffocated. You cannot love someone completely
unless you trust them completely. Act as if your relationship with the
person you love will never end. One of the ways you can tell whether a
person is right for you is to ask yourself, "Do I trust them
completely and unreservedly?" If the answer is "no", think carefully
before making a commitment.

Let's say it's 6.15p m

Let's say it's 6.15p m and you're going home (alone of
course), after an unusually hard day on the job.
You're really tired, upset and frustrated.

Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your
chest that starts to adiate out into your arm and up
into your jaw. You are only about five miles from the
hospital nearest your home. Unfortunately you don't
know if you'll be able to make it that far. You have
been trained in CPR, but the guy that taught the
course did not tell you how to perform it on yourself.

HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE
Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart
attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating
improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only
about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.

However, these victims can help themselves by coughing
repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should
be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep
and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep
inside the chest.

A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two
seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until
the heart is felt to be beating normally again.

Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing
movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood
circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also
helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart
attack victims can get to a hospital. Tell as many
other people as possible about this. It could save
their lives!!

How to detect a two way mirror

(Have you seen recent advertisement of M/S SAINT GOBAIN GLASSES shown
in TELEVISION'S? - Then you must have known about 2 Way mirror & is
also
shown in Hindi Movie HUMRAAZ) How to determine if a mirror is 2 way or
not (Not a Joke!)
Not to scare you, but to make sure that you aware.
Many of the hotels and textile showrooms cheat the customers this way &
watch privately.
HOW TO DETECT A 2-WAY MIRROR
When we visit toilets, bathrooms, hotel rooms, changing rooms, etc., how
many of you know for sure that the seemingly ordinary mirror hanging on
the wall is a real mirror, r actually a 2-way mirror i.e., they can see
you, but you can't see them). There have been many cases of people
installing 2-way mirrors in female changing rooms or bathroom or
bedrooms.
It is very difficult to positively identify the surface by just
looking at it. So, how do we determine with any amount of certainty
what type of mirror we are looking at?
CONDUCT THIS SIMPLE TEST:
Place the tip of your fingernail against the reflective surface and if
there is a GAP between your fingernail and the image of the nail, then
it is a GENUINE mirror. However, if your fingernail DIRECTLY TOUCHES
the image of your nail, then BEWARE, IT IS A 2-WAY MIRROR! (there is
someone seeing you from the
other side). So remember, every time you see a mirror,do the
"fingernail test." It doesn't cost you anything. It is simple to do.
This is a
really good thing to do. The reason there is a gap on a real mirror, is
because the silver is on the back of the
mirror UNDER the glass. Whereas with a two-way mirror, the silver is on
the Surface. Keep it in mind! Make sure and check every time you enter
in hotel rooms.May be someone is making a film on you.

Eye Care "20-20-20"

This info' is sure to help PC users very much.

During a recent visit to an optician, one of my friends was told of an
exercise for the eyes by a specialist doctor in the US that he termed as
20-20-20." It is apt for all of us, who spend long hours at our desks,
looking at the computer screen.
I Thought I'd share it with you. 20-20-20
Step I :-
After every 20 minutes of looking into the computer screen, turn your
head and try to look at any object placed at least 20 feet away. This
changes the focal length of your eyes, a must-do for the tired eyes.
Step II :-
Try and blink your eyes for 20 times in succession, to moisten them.
Step III :-
Time permitting of course, one should walk 20 paces after every 20 minutes
of sitting in one particular posture. Helps blood circulation for the entire body.

Job Stress increases obesity risk

Men and women who remain more stressed out at work are more likely to become fat.
Researchers from the University College London Medical School found that job strain can increase the likelihood of obesity. Higher stress levels were also linked to excess fat around the middle, which is particularly harmful for health. Chronic stress has been linked to heart disease and the metabolic syndrome, a constellation of symptoms including excess belly fat that increases the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. They wanted to analyse whether that job stress might make people more likely to develop obesity.
The researchers followed 6,895 men and 3,413 women for 19 years. All were 35 to 55 years old at the study's outset. Participants reported levels of job strain, defined as having heavy demands, little decision-making power, and little social support, at several points during the study. Men and women who reported job strain on at least three occasions were 73 percent more likely to become obese than those who never said they were stressed on the job. They were also 61 percent more likely to develop central obesity, defined as a waist circumference greater than 102 cm (40 inches) for men or 88 cm (35 inches) for women.
Those who reported job strain on one occasion were at 17 percent increased risk of obesity and central obesity, while those who reported stress on two occasions were at 24 percent increased risk of obesity and 41 percent increased risk of central obesity. Adjusting for factors that could be related to both job strain and obesity, such as socioeconomic status and cigarette smoking, reduced the relationship by only a small amount.
The findings suggest that high psychological workload, together with lack of social support at work, acts as a causal factor for obesity.

Micro Waved Water

A 26-year old decided to have a cup of coffee. He took a cup of water and put it in the microwave to heat it up (something that he had done numerous times before). I am not sure how long he set the timer for, but he told me he wanted to bring the water to a boil. When the timer shut the oven off, he removed the cup from the oven. As he looked into the cup, he noted that the water was not
boiling, but instantly the water in the cup "blew up" into his face. The
cup remained intact until he threw it out of his hand but all the water
had flown out into his face due to the build up of energy. His whole
face is blistered and he has 1st and 2nd degree burns to his face, which
may leave scarring. He also may have lost partial sight in his left eye.
While at the hospital, the doctor who was attending to him stated that
this is fairly common occurrence and water (alone) should never be
heated in a microwave oven. If water is heated in this manner, something
should be placed in the cup to diffuse the energy such as: a wooden stir
stick, tea bag, etc. It is however a much safer choice to boil the water
in a teakettle.
General Electric's (GE) response:
Thanks for contacting us. I will be happy to assist you. The e-mail that
you received is correct. Microwaved water and other liquids do not
always bubble when they reach the boiling point. They can actually get
superheated and not bubble at all. The superheated liquid will bubble up
out of the cup when it is moved or when something like a spoon or tea
bag is put into it. To prevent this from happening and causing injury,
do not heat any liquid for more than two minutes per cup. After heating,
let the cup stand in the microwave for thirty seconds before moving it
or adding anything into it.

Starting at GMT 03:14:07, Tuesday, January 19, 2038, It is expected to see lots of systems around the world breaking magnificently: satellites falling out of orbit, massive power outages (like the 2003 North American blackout), hospital life support system failures, phone system interruptions, banking errors, etc. One second after this critical second, many of these systems will have wildly inaccurate date settings, producing all kinds of unpredictable consequences. In short, many of the dire predictions for the year 2000 are much more likely to actually occur in the year
In the first month of the year 2038 C.E. many computers will encounter a date-related bug in their operating systems and/or in the applications they run. This can result in incorrect and wildly inaccurate dates being reported by the operating system and/or applications. The effect of this bug is hard to predict, because many applications are not prepared for the resulting "skip" in reported time anywhere from 1901 to a "broken record" repeat of the reported time at the second the bug occurs. Also, may make some small adjustment to the actual time the bug expresses itself. This bug to cause serious problems on many platforms, especially Unix and Unix-like platforms, because these systems will "run out of time".
What causes it?

Time_t is a data type used by C and C++ programs to represent dates and times internally. (Windows programmers out there might also recognize it as the basis for the CTime and CTimeSpan classes in MFC.)
time_t is actually just an integer, a whole number, that counts the number of seconds since January 1, 1970 at 12:00 AM Greenwich Mean Time. A time_t value of 0 would be 12:00:00 AM (exactly midnight) 1-Jan-1970, a time_t value of 1 would be 12:00:01 AM (one second after midnight) 1-Jan-1970, etc.. some example times and their exact time_t representations:
Date & time time_t representation
1-Jan-1970, 12:00:00 AM GMT 0
1-Jan-1970, 12:01:00 AM GMT 60
1-Jan-1970, 01:00:00 AM GMT 3 600
2-Jan-1970, 12:00:00 AM GMT 86 400
1-Jan-1971, 12:00:00 AM GMT 31 536 000
1-Jan-1972, 12:00:00 AM GMT 63 072 000
1-Jan-2038, 12:00:00 AM GMT 2 145 916 800
19-Jan-2038, 03:14:07 AM GMT 2 147 483 647

By the year 2038, the time_t representation for the current time will be over 2 140 000 000. And that's the problem. A modern 32-bit computer stores a "signed integer" data type, such as time_t, in 32 bits. The first of these bits is used for the positive/negative sign of the integer, while the remaining 31 bits are used to store the number itself.
The highest number these 31 data bits can store works out to exactly 2 147 483 647. A time_t value of this exact number, 2 147 483 647, represents January 19, 2038, at 7 seconds past 3:14 AM Greenwich Mean Time. So, at 3:14:07 AM GMT on that fateful day, every time_t used in a 32-bit C or C++ program will reach its upper limit.
One second later, on 19-January-2038 at 3:14:08 AM GMT, disaster strikes. When a signed integer reaches its maximum value and then gets incremented, it wraps around to its lowest possible negative value.
This means a 32-bit signed integer, such as a time_t, set to its maximum value of 2 147 483 647 and then incremented by 1, will become -2 147 483 648.
Note that "-" sign at the beginning of this large number. A time_t value of -2 147 483 648 would represent December 13, 1901 at 8:45:52 PM GMT.
So, if all goes normally, 19-January-2038 will suddenly become 13-December-1901 in every time_t across the globe, and every date calculation based on this figure will go haywire. And it gets worse.
Most of the support functions that use the time_t data type cannot handle negative time_t values at all. They simply fail and return an error code.
